The Seventies

Painted in my Trieste studio during the 1970s, these are portraits of friends and family in New Zealand.  By this time I had lived in London and Italy for ten years.

The portraits are an indication of homesickness.  I was alternating between series of abstract paintings and my search for a way to paint figures, with influences ranging from Renaissance to English Pop Art.

All works are painted from photographs.
