Just as a composer might create variations on a musical theme, I take a rectangle divided approximately according to the golden ratio and play with the possible nuances of colour and proportion. My starting point is a memory of seeing a watercolour by Mauro Reggiani - an intuitive division of the rectangle, poetic, not mathematical.
