Panoramic Paintings

Porirua Plaza 1991

Piazza Grande 1991

The structure for the composition of both paintings borrows elements from the Somewhere In Our Historical Memory series.

In Porirua Plaza there is  imagery includes a tuatara skeleton, a representation of a tiki taken from a 1910 newspaper advertisement, and a painted sketch of people in the present day shopping mall.

In Piazza Grande, to the familiar imagery of 'soft' gun barrels is added a map of Istria including Trieste, details from an engraving about Napoleon's occupation of the city, and a sketch of the present day central piazza.

**  Both 3200x1200mm acrylic on canvas  **
